Introducing Megan Hickey, Our New Associate Attorney

Megan Hickey’s journey with Your Injury Advocates began shortly after her first semester of law school. She joined as an intern in the summer of 2023 and continued working with the firm throughout law school. She joined the firm full-time in January 2025 and, after passing the Florida Bar Exam in September 2025, became an associate attorney.

Megan is grateful to have grown within a firm led by two phenomenal and highly accomplished attorneys, Rita Jackman and Diana Castrillon, and for the opportunity to learn from them, be challenged by them, and have their support throughout her development as an attorney. She has also had the opportunity to work with some of the most respected attorneys in Florida, both within and outside the firm, gaining valuable experience in complex litigation.

A highlight of Megan’s practice has been working alongside lead counsel, Rita Jackman, on a wrongful death case involving the drowning of a two-year-old child, which resulted in a $15 million settlement. Megan was deeply involved in the litigation, including drafting substantive motions and pleadings, conducting extensive legal research, reviewing thousands of pages of discovery, preparing for depositions of high-level corporate officers and testifying experts, and researching complex issues involving codes, permitting, and compliance.

Megan has developed particular strengths in legal research and writing and has drafted numerous substantive motions, pleadings, and other litigation documents across a range of matters. She has also personally handled personal injury, eviction, construction lien, and property damage matters, giving her a broad litigation foundation that she brings to her work on behalf of clients.

Her approach to litigation is grounded in preparation, curiosity, and attention to detail. Megan enjoys digging deeply into a case—working through discovery, identifying connections and inconsistencies, researching the law and related cases, and using technology and available data to uncover information that may strengthen her clients’ claims. She believes that the best advocacy comes from understanding both the facts and the law at a level that allows every potential argument and avenue of recovery to be considered.

“I believe every case deserves to be investigated thoroughly, and every potential avenue of recovery must be explored. My goal is to know the facts, understand the law, and leave no stone unturned in advocating for my clients.”

Megan chose to build her career at Your Injury Advocates because of the firm’s commitment to client-focused representation and fierce advocacy. After experiencing those values firsthand since law school, she knew it was the right place to continue growing as an attorney and advocate.
